Identiv Launches ID-Brain Dual-Frequency Inlays

Identiv is now offering a new portfolio of dual-frequency inlays for logistics, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and retail applications. Labeled ID-Brain, these inlays are based on dual-frequency integrated circuit technology from EM Microelectronic and combine the benefits of NFC and RAIN UHF RFID into a single solution with the ability to perform both NFC and UHF applications.

ID-Brain tags are available as dry inlays, wet inlays, or labels to meet the growing demand for RFID tags that enable multiple applications and are accessible by corporate (UHF) reader infrastructures and smartphones in the hands of consumers, according to Dr. Manfred Mueller, Chief Strategy Officer at Identiv.

With their dual-frequency compatibility, Identiv’s new ID-Brain products meet this demand and simplify operations by combining NFC and RAIN UHF RFID into a single IC tag, eliminating the need for multiple tags.

“The launch of our ID-Brain dual-frequency inlays marks a continued expansion of our IoT solutions portfolio,” said Dr. Mueller. “The ID-Brain product family addresses key challenges businesses face today – inefficiencies in inventory tracking, ineffective loss prevention, and limited consumer engagement – by integrating NFC and RAIN UHF RFID  into a single, dual-frequency tag.”

All ID-Brain deal-frequency products are powered by the second generation of EM Microelectronic’s em|echo-V (article EM4425). The chip is compatible with ISO/IEC 15693, ISO/IEC 18000-3 Mode 1, NFC Forum Type 5 Tag, ISO/IEC18000-63, EPCTM Gen2v2, and ISO/IEC 29167-10 protocols. All protocols make use of a shared memory and a common IC serial number. This shared memory allows a customer’s specific request to be linked to the product’s supply chain data. With access to information on the purchase status and location of the product, the brand can provide personalized responses to customer requests.
